Groundbreaking Ceremony for Foundry Place Garage to be held Wednesday, September 6th

PORTSMOUTH, NH – A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the Foundry Place Garage construction will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at 4:00 p.m. The public is welcome to join members of City Council, City committee members (Garage Building Committee; Economic Development Committee), project representatives (Walker Parking Consultants; Consigli Construction Co., Inc.; Tighe & Bond; DeStefano Architects) and City staff to celebrate the start of developing Portsmouth’s new 600-space garage and subsequent revitalization to the City’s North End.

Vaughan-Worth-Bridge Strategic Planning Committee to Host Abutter and Business Owner Listening Session

The Mayoral Appointed Vaughan-Worth-Bridge Strategic Planning Committee will host a public Listening Session for Abutters and Business Owners on Tuesday August 29, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at The Music Hall Loft at 131 Congress Street. Abutters and Business Owners impacted by the reuse of the Bridge Street Lot, Worth Lot and Vaughan Mall are encouraged to attend. The Committee’s first listening session was held for the general public in June.

Leak Adjustment Application

The City of Portsmouth offers consideration for a one time sewer adjustment to customers based on unusual water consumption at their property. As sewer charges are based on the water consumption, any adjustment approved would only be applied to the sewer portion of the customer's account.

Portsmouth Water Division Releases Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports

Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires community water systems to deliver a Consumer Confidence Report – also known as an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report – to their customers. These reports, which are mailed out to water customers by July 1st, provide information about their drinking water quality including a summary of detected contaminants from the previous year, compliance, and educational information.

Portsmouth DPW Implements Changes to Downtown Trash Collection Schedule

Last year, the Department of Public Works began updating the City’s Solid Waste Ordinance, last revised in 2003. On October 17, 2016, the City Council approved an update to the City’s Solid Waste Ordinance Section 3.201 to better accommodate the Downtown Business District curbside collection times and update the ordinance language to reflect current practice and industry standards.

City of Portsmouth completes solar energy projects at two locations

April 12, 2017

The City of Portsmouth is happy to announce the completion of two large solar energy arrays located at the Portsmouth High School and Portsmouth’s Madbury Water Treatment Plant. The combined total size of the arrays is 578 kilowatts DC and will produce more than 700,000 kilowatt hours of renewable electricity annually.
