The City of Portsmouth NH starts urgent work in Vaughan Mall to replace the sewer, stormwater, and water lines due to the deteriorating sewer line. Work will begin on September 1, 2025 and continue through early December. On completion, the intention is to apply temporary asphalt paving for the winter.

A public information meeting was held July 7, 2025 to discuss the redesign of Vaughan Mall. For more information go to the meeting presentation and the Zoom recording. 

Terrence Parker, ASLA from Terra Firma Landscape Architecture, provided some initial design thoughts for the restoration of Vaughan Mall at the meeting and collected public input on those designs so the City can move towards a final design plan.

A pre-construction meeting for the project is scheduled for August 13, 2025.
