Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works is launching an Automated Collection Program for residential trash and recycling services. This program is part of a modernization effort designed to improve efficiency, enhance employee safety, and improve service for residents. The program will begin with wheeled trash and recycling bin distribution in Pannaway Manor.
The pool area at Spinnaker Point is closed for repairs through Monday, October 26. Please call before coming in for reopening information.
UPDATE: The water main break on South Street is fixed. Residents may need to run cold water to clear any discoloration.
Update: The NH Department of Information Technology reports that the issue is resolved. The City can now process auto registrations.
The DMV reports that there is currently a Statewide computer outage that is affecting online and in-person transactions, as well as telephones.
The City of Portsmouth’s water supply sources have continued to perform reliably despite ongoing drought conditions that began in June 2025. The Seacoast region currently remains in an Abnormally Dry (D0) classification, with a small portion of the area still experiencing Moderate Drought (D1) conditions. While groundwater levels remain below typical seasonal averages, storage in the Bellamy Reservoir has remained stable and sufficient through 2026.
