Community Event Requests
The City of Portsmouth has a strong commitment to arts and culture and to being a place that offers a variety of diverse events and activities for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. On average, there are roughly 150 events in the City each year that require some City approval and some form of municipal services support.
Guitar Sundays featuring Colin Davin, Sunday September 10
Guitar Sundays are back! This month's performance features classical guitarist, Colin Davin at Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC). Due to the Thunder Over NH Air Show, the September performance will begin at 6 PM.
"Precision, musical intelligence and passion" are words that have been used to describe guitarist Colin Davin. He has been hailed as "the real thing; a player with a virtuoso's technique, a deeply expressive musicianship, and a probing imagination" (American Record Guide).

Water Division cleans and inspects water storage tanks
On September 5 through 8, 2023 the City of Portsmouth Water Division is conducting routine inspections and interior cleaning activities on five water storage tanks associated with the Portsmouth Water System. The interior cleaning activities may cause some disturbance in the clarity of the water in the water system as a result of the stirring deposits that have accumulated in the tanks. All efforts to minimize this disturbance will be made; however, customers may observe cloudy water at their taps.

Presented by the library’s Special Collections staff and members of the Ranger Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), these events are free, open to the public, and appropriate for all levels of interest and experience. All levels will learn something new!
