How to Apply for a Marriage License
General Information
Both in state and out of state residents may apply at any City Clerk's Office to be married in the State of New Hampshire.
Application Procedure
To apply for the license, both parties must appear at the same time in the office otherwise an application cannot be completed.
Business License
The City of Portsmouth does not require a business license. However, the State of New Hampshire issues business licenses.
Applications may be obtained from the New Hampshire Secretary of State at 603-271-3242 or via the web at www.state.nh.us/sos.
Bowling & Billiards Application
In order to maintain a billiard room or bowling alley in Portsmouth, you are required to obtain a Billiards/Bowling license. You can find the application for this license below.
