July 1, 2017The City of Portsmouth offers consideration for a one time sewer adjustment to customers based on unusual water consumption at their property. As sewer charges are based on the water consumption, any adjustment approved would only be applied to the sewer portion of the customer's account.

Suspicious Person with a Gun Report
June 28, 2017On Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 5:07pm, Officers with the Portsmouth Police Department responded to the Circle K Convenience Store at 2470 Lafayette Road for a report of a man brandishing a firearm in the parking lot.
Portsmouth Water Division Releases Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports
June 26, 2017Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires community water systems to deliver a Consumer Confidence Report – also known as an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report – to their customers. These reports, which are mailed out to water customers by July 1st, provide information about their drinking water quality including a summary of detected contaminants from the previous year, compliance, and educational information.
City Reaffirms Its Commitment To Reducing South Mill Pond Discharges
June 19, 2017In documents filed with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Friday, June 16, 2017, the City of Portsmouth reaffirmed its commitment to achieve further reductions in combined sewer overflow (CSO) discharges including those discharges to the South Mill Pond. In April 2017, the EPA commented on the City’s Post-Construction Monitoring Plan/Report (PCMP/R); on Friday, the City responded to those comments and submitted a Supplemental Compliance Plan.
Revitalization Committee Promotes Various Methods for Participating in Public Listening Session
June 15, 2017On Wednesday June 28, 2017, the Strategic Planning Committee for Vaughan-Worth-Bridge Revitalization will hold a public listening session at 6:30 p.m. at the Discover Portsmouth Center. The Committee’s website has been updated to provide information about the various methods the public can use to provide input to the Committee at this early stage in the process. These methods include a survey, electronic comment form, file sharing, and mark-up maps.
Public Tour of Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade Project to be held on Tuesday, June 20th
June 13, 2017PORTSMOUTH, NH – Guided public tours of the Peirce Island Wastewater Facility (WWTF) construction site will be conducted on Tuesday, June 20th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. City staff, along with others involved in the construction of the Peirce Island WWTF upgrade project, will be guiding interested parties through the construction site to provide an opportunity to observe the status of the ongoing construction.

City Committee Begins Work on Strategic Plan for Downtown Area
June 8, 2017In April, Mayor Blalock appointed a Strategic Planning Committee for Vaughan-Worth-Bridge Revitalization. Councilor Rebecca Perkins was appointed Chair of the Committee, which will focus on the City-owned parcels known as the Bridge Street lot, Vaughan Mall Lot (formerly Worth Lot) and the Vaughan Mall, as well as the public rights-of way between the future Foundry Place Garage and the Islington Street and Maplewood Avenue Intersection.
