Are you interested in preserving the unique history of your home? The Portsmouth Public Library and the Portsmouth Historical Society invite you to attend our information session to learn more about the Portsmouth Historic Plaque Program and the free research resources offered by the Portsmouth Public Library. Library staff will explain what collections and archives are available  and show you how to find what you need as you discover your home’s backstory.

This event will take place in the Levenson Community Room at the Portsmouth Public Library.

3rd Annual Seacoast Sustainability Fair, Friday April 11

Every day is Earth Day! Join us to celebrate the world we live in at our third annual Seacoast Sustainability Fair on Friday April 11, 2025, from 4:30-7 PM at the Connie Bean Center at 155 Parrott Ave in Portsmouth.

This year, we will be joined by Maine and New Hampshire organizations, businesses, and municipalities working to improve the climate in our region and state.

Hygge at the Library! (Last of the Season), Monday April 7

Hygge for You-gge

Drop in between 10 AM-7 PM

hygge  /ˈho͞oɡə,ˈho͝oɡə/

noun: a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)."

When it's colder and darker out, all plenty of us want to do is curl up with a good book or soothing activity and get cozy. Why fight it? Take a break from your stresses and drop in for some hygge at the library!

Community Climate Conversations: Edible Gardens Where You Are, Wednesday April 2

Edible Gardening Where You Are

Join us for another Community Climate Conversation sponsored by Portsmouth Climate Action, an affiliate of Seacoast C.A.N. and the Portsmouth Public Library.  The topic of our April conversation is "Bring your food source closer."

We will have local, experienced gardeners who will share information about starting or improving your own garden. You'll also learn about community gardens, composting, organic gardening, permaculture, sustainability, and more.
