The Trees & Public Greenery Committee was established by Ordinance [Chapter 1, Article IV, Section 1.409] and consists of ten (10) voting members including a member of the City Council, the City Manager or designee, the Tree Warden, the Public Works Foreman in charge of tree maintenance, and six (6) individuals with an interest in trees and public greenery. The six (6) non-staff members of the Committee are appointed by the Mayor and City Council for three-year terms.
The Sustainability Committee consists of twelve members and up to two member seats for current students from Portsmouth High School. In addition, one staff liaison from the Planning and Sustainability Department, one City Councilor and one School Board member hold seats on the Committee. The Committee regularly meets on the fourth Thursday of the month, unless otherwise noticed.
The charge of this Committee is to develop a near-term, action plan that will improve Vaughan Mall as a public space, connect the mall to adjacent properties and walkable areas, and provide a proactive, environmentally-friendly, interim step that is consistent with and that builds momentum toward the 2017 vision for the Vaughan Mall, and Worth and Bridge Street Parking Lots.
The Portsmouth Housing Endowment Fund (PHEF) Board's role is to formulate general policies regarding the operation of the City's first-time homebuyer's program, HomeTown (which is funded through the Portsmouth Housing Endowment Fund), and establish specific policies as the need may arise, dictated by program demands. (7 members, 3-year terms). For further information please contact Community Development Coordinator Elise Annunziata at (603) 610-7281.
