City of Portsmouth, NH Public Works Hosts Second Mechanic Street Pump Station Public Information Meeting on Monday, November 9
October 30, 2026
Portsmouth, N.H. – The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works (DPW) will host a second public information meeting to discuss the Mechanic Street Pump Station Project on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 6:30 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 1 Junkins Avenue. Residents can review the latest plans and ask questions of City staff and project consultants.
The Mechanic Street Pump Station is the City’s largest wastewater pump station and is operating beyond its useful life. Recent pump failures have underscored the need to replace the pump station to improve reliability and meet current design and operating standards. The City plans to design the new pump station to fit into the surrounding neighborhood and protect it from flooding and sea level rise. This meeting will include the latest information from ongoing coordination for the Mechanic Street project and additional information for offsite options as requested during the last input session.
The public may attend in person or participate via Zoom. Advance registration is required to participate by Zoom.
