Scam Alert! Fraudulant Emails Requesting Wire Transfer

We have reports that several residents have received fake invoices pretending to be from the City of Portsmouth for permits and application fees. Keep yourself safe from email scams: 

• Inspect the sender's email address (several emails have come from usa.com). The City of Portsmouth uses portsmouthnh.gov
• Avoid downloading or opening attachments from unexpected or suspicious emails
• If something seems strange, call the City department to verify any payment request
• The City will never request a wire transfer via email
