2 Year Old Saved by First Responders 

June 22, 2018

On Friday, June 22, 2018 at 5:39pm, Police and Fire Officers of Portsmouth, New Hampshire responded to 325 Little Harbor Road for a report of a two year old trapped in a rock pile. Upon arrival, first responders found a two year old boy pinned between large slabs of stone. Moments before, the child had been playing atop this pile with his grandfather when the slab he was standing on dislodged. This caused the boy to fall forward with the stone he was just standing on, coming to rest on his head.

Public Information Meeting for Maplewood Avenue and Adjacent Areas Project Thursday, June 21st

The City of Portsmouth has a utility and roadway reconstruction project that includes the replacement of water mains, improvements to the sewer and drainage system, roadway reconstruction, bike lanes, sidewalks, and curbing for a section of Maplewood Avenue. The City received bids in March and has awarded the construction contract to Sargent Corporation of Stillwater, ME. Sargent is scheduled to begin construction the week of July 9th. The project is anticipated to require two construction seasons to complete.

Inspection of Peirce Island Road Bridge Occurring Tuesday, June 19th

The Department of Public Works has announced that a routine inspection of the existing Peirce Island Road Bridge will be conducted on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. This is a planned, non-emergency inspection and will involve a visual inspection of components of the bridge including the base, deck, railing system and above-water portions of the abutments and piers.

The Portsmouth Police Department has concluded its investigation into an altercation which had been reported at 12:38 AM on May 29th on Fleet Street, and as a result the following two individuals have been arrested and charged:

Public Meeting for Corporate Drive and Goosebay Drive Sewer Improvement Project Thursday, June 14th

The City of Portsmouth has a sewer improvement project that will consist of the replacement of existing sewer pipes in Goosebay Drive and also in Corporate Drive from Rye Street to Goosebay Drive. The City received bids in March and has awarded the construction contract to Sargent Corporation of Stillwater, ME. Sargent Corporation will begin construction on the sewer improvements later in the month of June.
