September 17, 2018As part of the Maplewood Avenue reconstruction project, Maplewood Avenue spanning Edmond Avenue to Woodbury Avenue will be shut down to traffic starting on September 17th and lasting through mid-December.
Portsmouth and the U.S. Air Force move forward with next phase of upgrading Pease Tradeport water treatment
September 14, 2018The City of Portsmouth and the United States Air Force have recently signed their latest agreement to treat perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) from water supplied by the Smith, Harrison and Haven Wells serving the Pease Tradeport drinking water system. The agreement will provide the City with up to $14.3 million to reimburse the cost of construction of the final treatment system for all three wells, which will include a dual filtration system consisting of resin and granular activated carbon filters.

Youth Soccer Fall 2018 Rosters and Schedules Announced
September 6, 2018Kids learn the basic skills of soccer in a fun atmosphere! The program will run from September 11 - October 20. Grades K-1 play Tuesdays beginning at 4:15 p.m. Grades 2-4 play Thursdays beginning at 4:15 p.m. All teams play on Saturdays beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Roadwork spanning Junkins Avenue and Court Street Intersection to start Wednesday, September 5th
September 5, 2018As part of the Pleasant Street Reconstruction Project, roadwork reconstruction will also begin between Junkins Avenue and through the Court Street intersection on Wednesday, September 5th. The initial work will consist of underground utility installation, followed by the complete reconstruction of the roadway. In total this work will take a few weeks and will include lane closures at times that will impact traffic.
September 2018 Water Supply Status Report

September 4, 2018Work related to City’s ongoing sewer system evaluation study will begin on September 4, 2018 and is expected to continue through mid October 2018.
Paving Operations on Market Street to start September 4th
September 4, 2018Beginning Tuesday, September 4th, crews will begin the paving project on Market Street spanning from where the Albacore Museum is located up to the Woodbury Avenue intersection. The commercial portion of Woodbury Avenue will also be paved from Market Street to the Newington Town line. This work will take about a month to complete and will include some traffic impacts.
Middle Street Bike Lane Installation Underway
September 4, 2018The Middle Street and Lafayette Road corridor bike lane project has been awarded to Hi-Way Safety Systems, and is required to be completed by the end of September 2018. The project, which also received funding from a NHDOT Safe Routes to School Grant, will extend from the High School to the downtown and is intended to create a safer and more convenient path for those traveling by bike or foot to the schools, Library and more.
