Overnight work occurring at Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) this week
May 21, 2019Methuen and the City are conducting night work at the Peirce Island WWTF from Wednesday into Thursday from midnight to 3 AM. This work is being done to perform construction in the primary clarifier effluent D-box. There will be lights, equipment, pumps and generators on-site.
Missing Person Update
May 21, 2019On the evening of May 20, 2019, the Newington Police and Fire Departments responded to the Great Bay shoreline at Fox Point for the report of a deceased body. Due to the ongoing investigation into the missing Adam Camarato case, the Portsmouth Police Department was notified. The scene was investigated by on scene officers and the State Assistant Deputy Medical Examiner. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning where the positive identity will be made.
School Threat
May 21, 2019On the evening of May 20, 2019, the Portsmouth Police department was made aware of a threatening statement made on a juvenile’s Snapchat social media account. A student from the Portsmouth Middle School posted a picture of a Middle School stairway with the caption “who wants to shoot up the school tomorrow?”
Planning Department announces Open Space Plan and upcoming public meetings
May 20, 2019The City’s Open Space Plan will aim to improve public access to, increase use and stewardship of, and improve connectivity between open space assets city-wide. The Plan will support the Master Plan goal of managing existing and acquiring additional open spaces for passive recreation and environmental preservation.

COAST announces public meetings to review new bus service concept for 2020
May 13, 2019COAST has been taking a fresh look at the best way to meet the region's changing transportation needs, and every voice is needed at the table. Public transit design impacts businesses, employers, workers, agencies, educators, students, visitors, and more. After conducting a survey in late 2018, COAST has created a service concept for 2020 that they are seeking further thoughts on. COAST is encouraging the public to attend one of several meetings in the seacoast area as they work to redesign their services for 2020.
