Free On-Street Holiday Parking Downtown
December 17, 2019On December 16, the City Council voted to allow free parking at all downtown, on-street parking meters from Tuesday, December 17th through Thursday, December 26th. While parking is free for these 10 days, time limits and any snow parking bans will still be enforced.
Snow Emergency Parking Ban Effective 8 pm Dec 17 (1 am Donwtown)
December 17, 2019In anticipation of the need for plowing city streets as the current snowstorm winds down, a parking ban starts going into effect starting at 8 pm. Parking ban on downtown streets starting at 1 am.
Inaugural Make-A-Wish New Hampshire 2020 Youth Basketball Tournament
December 9, 2019The Portsmouth Auxiliary Police Association, in cooperation of and with the support of Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, is conducting a basketball tournament for youth between March 16th and 27th, 2020 on weeknights between 5 and 9PM at the Connie Bean Center in Portsmouth, NH. The majority net proceeds will be donated to Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, helping children and their families. Our tournament theme is “Building Youth by Helping Youth”. There is no better cause than Make-A-Wish.

December 6, 2019Effective from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday, December 7th, 2019, the Chief of Police will be invoking his emergency powers, prohibiting parking and vehicular travel on certain streets in the City due to the Annual Portsmouth Holiday Parade. The Parade Route will begin at Plaza 800 on Islington Street (6:00pm) and proceed east to Congress St
