Motor Vehicle Crash on Woodbury Ave by Holiday Inn
February 27, 2020On February 27, 2020 at approximately 6:30 P.M. the Portsmouth Police and Fire Department responded to Woodbury Avenue, between Dennett Street and Cottage Street, for a three car motor vehicle crash. There were three injuries and all three individuals were transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Traffic was rerouted for a short time while the crash was investigated and this crash remains under investigation.
Mayor Becksted announces McIntyre Subcommittee (Feb 18)

City Awarding Contract to Upgrade Downtown Maplewood Avenue Traffic Signal System
February 24, 2020Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works has reviewed bids and is awarding a contract to Electric Light Company of York, Maine for the upgrade of the traffic signals at three intersections along Maplewood Avenue at Deer Street, Hanover Street and Congress Street. The Parking & Traffic Safety (PTS) Committee recommended the changes in December 2019. The changes will upgrade the signals to provide concurrent pedestrian phasing to deliver the following benefits:
