The United States Constitution requires a count every 10 years of every person who is residing in the U.S., regardless of immigration status or citizenship. The Census Bureau's goal for the 2020 Census is to "count everyone once, only once, and in the right place."

Motor Vehicle Crash on Woodbury Ave by Holiday Inn
February 27, 2020On February 27, 2020 at approximately 6:30 P.M. the Portsmouth Police and Fire Department responded to Woodbury Avenue, between Dennett Street and Cottage Street, for a three car motor vehicle crash. There were three injuries and all three individuals were transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Traffic was rerouted for a short time while the crash was investigated and this crash remains under investigation.
Mayor Becksted announces McIntyre Subcommittee (Feb 18)
February 27, 2020At the regular City Council meeting of February 18, 2020, Mayor Rick Becksted announced that, following discussions by members of the City Council with the City’s McIntyre Federal Building development partner Redgate/Kane, the City has launched a new initiative to bring about construction of the project.
