City Manager Presents FY21 Budget with 0% Tax Rate Increase; No Water/Sewer Rate Increase

City Manager Karen Conard released the FY21 City of Portsmouth Budget to the public on Friday, April 24, 2020. A Public Hearing on the Budget is scheduled for the City Council meeting on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, with Work Sessions for Departmental Review and Listening Sessions scheduled for May 11, 13, 14 and 19, followed by a Budget Review City Council Work Session on Thursday, May 21.

Subject Arrested Following Portsmouth Standoff

April 20, 2020

            At approximately 8:15 AM on April 20th, 2020, Portsmouth Emergency Communications received a phone call stating that a male suspect had threatened a group of people with a firearm near the property of 1001 Islington Street. It was reported that the male suspect threatened these people verbally while displaying a firearm from inside of an apartment.

DPW Moves Forward on Mandated & Budgeted Projects

City Celebrates Tree City USA Award with #TreeCityHug for Arbor Day

The Arbor Day Foundation has again named Portsmouth a Tree City USA and has awarded the Tree Growth Award to the City’s Department of Public Works Parks and Greenery Division, led by Corin Hallowell, Parks and Greenery Foreman and Charles Baxter, Arborist Foreman.
