Portsmouth and Pease International Tradeport Drinking Water Status Report, First Quarter 2022

The week of May 1-7, 2022 is National Drinking Water Week and the City of Portsmouth and Safe Water Advisory Group are presenting a free Community Water Forum on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm in City Hall Council Chambers. The public is also able to participate via Zoom, with advance registration.

Due to a tree falling across the roadway, bringing power lines down in the area of 2222 Lafayette Road, the road has been closed and will be closed for an unknown period of time. Traffic travelling in-bound on Lafayette Road is being detoured down Constitution Avenue to Banfield Road. Traffic travelling out-bound on Lafayette Road is being detoured down West Road to Peverly Hill Road to Banfield Road. The traffic lights at Lafayette Road and Peverly Hill Road are currently out as are the traffic lights at Lafayette Road and Mirona Road.

The Mosquito Control Program begins monitoring on April 11, 2022 in the City of Portsmouth. Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control, Inc., the City’s contracted service, will be checking swamps, salt marshes, woodland pools, ditches, catch basins and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae.

The City of Portsmouth Inspections Department is hosting a free training session on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 on Firestopping Concepts, Codes & Systems in building construction. Intended for contractors, developers, code officials and residents the session takes place in City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom from 9 am to 12 noon (check-in starts at 8 am). Advanced registration is required.

The New Hampshire Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund Advisory Commission unanimously voted at its January 10, 2022 meeting to cover design costs up to $223,000 for a Portsmouth-Dover emer

The City will start work on upgrades to the Bridge Street parking lot on April 11, with an estimated completion date in mid-May. The lot will be fenced off and closed during construction. The Bridge Street Lot work includes reconstruction of the paved area, handicapped accessibility upgrades, subsurface preparations that would allow for EV charging stations and landscaping.

The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division begins its annual routine flushing of fire hydrants and water mains on Monday, April 11, 2022. The flushing will take place at various locations, Monday through Thursday, between 7 am and 11 pm, for the next six weeks.
