April 20, 2022The week of May 1-7, 2022 is National Drinking Water Week and the City of Portsmouth and Safe Water Advisory Group are presenting a free Community Water Forum on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 6 to 8 pm in City Hall Council Chambers. The public is also able to participate via Zoom, with advance registration.
Road Closure: Tree & Power Lines Down
April 19, 2022Due to a tree falling across the roadway, bringing power lines down in the area of 2222 Lafayette Road, the road has been closed and will be closed for an unknown period of time. Traffic travelling in-bound on Lafayette Road is being detoured down Constitution Avenue to Banfield Road. Traffic travelling out-bound on Lafayette Road is being detoured down West Road to Peverly Hill Road to Banfield Road. The traffic lights at Lafayette Road and Peverly Hill Road are currently out as are the traffic lights at Lafayette Road and Mirona Road.
City Mosquito Control Program Monitoring Starts April 11, 2022
April 5, 2022The Mosquito Control Program begins monitoring on April 11, 2022 in the City of Portsmouth. Crews from Dragon Mosquito Control, Inc., the City’s contracted service, will be checking swamps, salt marshes, woodland pools, ditches, catch basins and other shallow, stagnant water for mosquito larvae.
When mosquito larvae are found, treatment may occur using one or more of the following:

April 4, 2022The City of Portsmouth Inspections Department is hosting a free training session on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 on Firestopping Concepts, Codes & Systems in building construction. Intended for contractors, developers, code officials and residents the session takes place in City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom from 9 am to 12 noon (check-in starts at 8 am).
