Fatal Motorcycle Accident
September 5, 2022On Saturday, September 3rd, at approximately 10:19 P.M. Portsmouth Police Officers responded to an accident involving a motorcycle and motor vehicle on Lang Road near Longmeadow Road. The operator of the motorcycle was injured and in need of medical attention. The Portsmouth Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the operator of the motorcycle to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Room. Later that evening the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead due to the injuries. He was identified as Jack Tizzard, age 22, from Kensington, N.H.

City of Portsmouth Reminds Drivers to Watch for School Crossings as Schools Open This Week
August 29, 2022Portsmouth Public Schools start a new school year on Tuesday, August 30 and drivers are urged to be extra cautious on city streets and to watch for crossing guards at key locations around the city. The City’s elementary schools are in session from 8 am to 2:30 pm. The middle school and high school start at 8:30 am and release at 3:15 pm. Crossing guards are posted between 7:35 and 8:35 am and between 2:25 and 3:45 pm, Monday through Friday.

City of Portsmouth Seeks Public Input for Capital Improvement Plan FY24-29
August 25, 2022The Portsmouth City Council, Planning Board and Planning Department invite the public to provide input on the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for Fiscal Years 2024 to 2029 (July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2029). Residents are asked to submit projects for consideration in the next CIP by September 30, 2022.

August 22, 2022On Monday July 11th, 2022, the Board of Police Commissioners voted unanimously to promote Captain Michael Maloney to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. The effective date of his promotion has yet to be determined; however, once effective, Michael will oversee the three divisions of the police department: Patrol Division, Investigative Division and the Administrative Division.
