City Moves Quickly to Help Portsmouth Businesses Survive
August 3, 2020Challenged from the start, like every one else, the City of Portsmouth moved quickly to guard public health and safety and to recognize the pandemic’s impact on the local economy. City Hall shut down on March 16, but City services continued online while all of the municipal departments kept tabs on the health of every local sector of residents and businesses, streamlining the process for restaurants to establish outdoor dining (and facilitate pickup for takeout orders).
Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested
July 31, 2020On July 30th, 2020, the following subject was arrested by the Dover New Hampshire Police Department on two alternate theory charges of Sexual Assault. The charges are a result of an incident that occurred in Portsmouth on July 28th when it is alleged the suspect assaulted a juvenile while walking on a city street.

McIntyre Subcommittee Receives Permission from GSA for City to Take Necessary Time for Transfer Process
July 27, 2020Since 2017, the City of Portsmouth has worked with the US Government General Services Administration (GSA) to acquire the 107,000 sf. McIntyre Building and its 2.1 acre site in downtown Portsmouth through the Historic Surplus Property Program. That GSA invitation to the City to pursue the acquisition marked the culmination of Phase One of the City’s efforts which began in 2004. In a recent call with the City, the GSA indicated that they are supportive of whatever time the City needs going forward.
