City of Portsmouth Cuts the Ribbon on Senior Activity Center
October 23, 2020On Friday, October 23, 2020, the City of Portsmouth celebrated the completion and opening of the $4 million conversion of a former Army Reserve center at 125 Cottage Street into the City’s Senior Activity Center. Participating in the ribbon-cutting were City Manager Karen Conard, Mayor Rick Becksted, Recreation Board Chair Carl Diemer and Martini Northern LLC Project Manager Matthew Billings.

City Seeking Input on Elwyn Road Side Path Project
October 21, 2020The City of Portsmouth is working to complete a project to add pedestrian and bicycle improvements along Elwyn Road between Lafayette Road and Harding Road under the New Hampshire Department of Transportation’s (NHDOT) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program (CMAQ). DPW Starts Peirce Island Temporary Sewer Force Main Work on Mon Oct 12
October 9, 2020The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works has identified the need to replace a Peirce Island sewer force main pipe that carries wastewater from the Mechanic Street Wastewater Pumping Station to the Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility. The first step in this process is to install a temporary sewer force main along the ground on Peirce Island, stretching from the entrance to the boat launch parking lot to the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Portsmouth City Council Recognizes Indigenous Peoples Day Alongside Columbus Day
October 8, 2020Five students from the We Speak social justice group at Portsmouth High School accomplished the goal of their appeal to the City Council at the meeting on October 5. The Council approved unanimously the motion offered by Councilor Cliff Lazenby that “the City of Portsmouth recognizes October 12, 2020 as Indigenous Peoples Day alongside Columbus Day.”
