US Route 1 Corridor Improvements - Informational Meeting

Planning Department announces Open Space Plan and upcoming public meetings
May 20, 2019The City’s Open Space Plan will aim to improve public access to, increase use and stewardship of, and improve connectivity between open space assets city-wide. The Plan will support the Master Plan goal of managing existing and acquiring additional open spaces for passive recreation and environmental preservation.

May 1, 2019To celebrate Bike Month, Mayor Jack Blalock will lead a bicycle ride beginning at City Hall at noon on Wednesday, May 8th. The public is encouraged to join him, City officials and staff for a bicycle tour of recent and planned bicycle and pedestrian improvements.
Portsmouth receives Silver Walk Friendly Community designation
April 16, 2019The Walk Friendly Communities program (WFC) has awarded Portsmouth with its Silver Level Walk Friendly accreditation due to the City’s work in prioritizing pedestrians and creating safer, comfortable and inviting places to walk. Other communities recognized this year by WFC include San Francisco, California, who received Platinum Level, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Lakeland, Florida, who received Bronze Level.
Second season of Middle Street/Lafayette Road bike lanes to include further traffic analyses and reduced bollards
April 10, 2019Last September, the City implemented new bike lanes on the Middle Street/Lafayette Road corridor to create a safer, on-road bike route along Route 1 between the High School and Downtown. This new design included buffered bike lanes, defined parking spaces and bollards (also known as flex posts) along the marked bike lane.
Business sponsorships allow for three stations to be added to Zagster bike fleet this spring
April 8, 2019Portsmouth residents, employees and visitors will now be able to enjoy the use of ten Zagster bike share stations throughout the City thanks to the sponsorships offered by several local businesses.
City moves forward with conceptual design of North Mill Pond Trail
April 3, 2019After a public meeting at the end of 2018, followed by a February 2019 work session with the Conservation Commission, the City of Portsmouth is finalizing the conceptual design developed for the North Mill Pond Trail.
March 11th meeting to discuss Cate Street connector road and Bartlett Street traffic calming measures
March 11, 2019Portsmouth’s Planning and Public Works Departments will be hosting a neighborhood listening session at the New Franklin School Library on Monday, March 11th at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed Cate Street Connector Road to Route 1 Bypass, as well as next steps on the traffic calming initiatives requested for the Bartlett Street area.
3D visual model of McIntyre Project to be shared at March 5th public meeting
March 5, 2019Following the City Council’s Public Hearing on the McIntyre Project on January 7th, City staff and the Redgate-Kane team will be reconvening with the public in Council Chambers on Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30 p.m. to reveal a 3D visual model of the project.
