City of Portsmouth Finance Department Publishes Popular and Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports for Year-Ending June 30, 2022
January 12, 2023The Portsmouth community can now access the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the Fiscal Year-ended June 30, 2022 (FY22) on the City of Portsmouth website. The City of Portsmouth prepares the two documents under the guidance of Director of Finance and Administration Judie Belanger following the close of each fiscal year.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2023
January 9, 2023Schools, City Hall, the Department of Public Works, the Senior Activity Center, the Library and Rec facilities will be closed on Monday, January 16th in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Trash collection schedule unchanged. Recycling center closed as usual on Monday.
City Selects Consultant Team to Help Create City’s Climate Action Plan
January 6, 2023City Manager Karen Conard announced that the City has selected a partnership of VHB, Resilience Planning & Design LLC and the Rockingham Planning Commission to create the City’s first Climate Action Plan in partnership with the City Planning and Sustainability Department and the local community. Planning and Sustainability Director Peter Britz and Associate Environmental Planner Kate Homet are leading the initiative on the City staff side.
Portsmouth City Council Creates Public Art Review Committee, Seeks Members
December 29, 2022Following the recommendations of the Governance Committee, the Portsmouth City Council has directed the creation of a new Public Art Review Committee (PARC) to assist the City in reviewing proposals for public art and conducting practical assessments of the feasibility of installing and maintaining such art works in the public sphere.

December 21, 2022Once again the Citywide Neighborhood Committee Holiday Lights Contest received enthusiastic support, with 42 Portsmouth residents participating. Mayor Deaglan McEachern will honor the winners in person at the January 9, 2023 City Council meeting.

City Announces Holiday from Parking Enforcement Dec 17-26
December 13, 2022Reviving a holiday tradition, the City Council voted to approve a Parking Enforcement Holiday on City-owned metered and kiosk parking in the downtown area from Saturday, December 17, 2022 through Monday, December 26, 2022. Parking fees in the Foundry Place and Hanover Garages remain in effect.

City Manager Names Peter Britz Director of Planning & Sustainability
December 6, 2022City Manager Karen Conard is pleased to announce the promotion of Peter L. Britz to City Planning and Sustainability Director, effective January 3, 2023. He is currently Assistant Director, Environmental Planner and Sustainability Coordinator, and previously served as Interim Planning Director from September to December 2021.
City Accepting Applications for 2023 Prescott Park Seasonal Boat Slips Rental Lottery

Holiday Tree-Lighting, Illuminated Holiday Parade AS PLANNED DEC 3
December 2, 2022The City’s 2022 Holiday Tree-Lighting and Illuminated Holiday Parade will be held as planned on Saturday, December 3 starting at 5 pm. After reviewing the forecast, which calls for temperatures in the 50s and rain tapering to occasional showers by parade time, the City has decided to proceed with plans for the tree-lighting and parade on Saturday evening.
