City of Portsmouth Issues Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports for Portsmouth, Pease and New Castle

Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division is mailing copies of the Annual Water Quality Report this week for customers served by the Portsmouth (including portions of New Castle) and Pease (serving the Pease Tradeport and a portion of Newington) Water Systems.

As the new rate period for Fall 2023 approaches, the Portsmouth Energy Advisory Committee has received the following rate-setting schedule from the Community Power Coalition of NH (CPCNH) which is the agent for Portsmouth Community Power (PCP). The new rates will be in effect from August 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024.

The City of Portsmouth and New Hampshire Community Loan Fund held a ribbon cutting Tuesday, June 20 on a project including five new affordable homes and significant site and infrastructure improvements at Woodbury Cooperative, a resident-owned manufactured-home park near downtown Portsmouth.  

For the past several years, the Mayor of Portsmouth has expressed the commitment of the Portsmouth City Council to its goal “to welcome and support diversity in the workplace and community” with a Proclamation of “LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Portsmouth.”

On Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11 am the American Legion/VFW conducts the annual Burial at Sea Ceremony by the anchor sculpture in Prescott Park. The ceremony includes a performance of patriotic music by the Portsmouth Middle School Ensemble and a wreath-laying on the Piscataqua River.

Three institutions who have worked together to assess the impacts of sea level rise on Portsmouth NH, including its most historic waterfront neighborhood, hosted the 10th national Keeping History Above Water® (KHAW) conference this week.

The City of Portsmouth announces road closures, parking bans and parking alternatives for Saturday, June 3, 2023, the date of the Portsmouth NH 400 Grand Parade (starting at 11 am), the 97.5 WOKQ Chowder Festival at Prescott Park (11:30 am to 2 pm) and Piscataqua RiverFest at Strawbery Banke Museum (10 am to 4 pm). The City is expecting an influx of thousands of visitors and significant limitations on road access to the locations where these large events are taking place.
