July 18, 2024Sail Portsmouth welcomes a parade of the US Coast Guard barque Eagle and a flotilla of other vessels to Portsmouth on Friday, July 26 starting at 9 am. The Parade of Sail features an impressive lineup of vessels, including the Ernestina-Morrissey and Denis Sullivan, along with the iconic gundalow Piscataqua, a US Navy tug, the City fireboat, and a multitude of supporting pleasure craft and fishing vessels.

Portsmouth Community Power Announces Lower Electricity Rate from Community Power Coalition of NH, Effective August 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025
July 16, 2024The Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) Board of Directors has announced an 18 percent decrease in the Portsmouth Community Power base electric rate compared to the rate Eversource has requested from the Public Utilities Commission for the same period. A base rate of 8.6¢ per kilowatt-hour for residential and small commercial customers goes into effect from August 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025 for Portsmouth and other CPCNH customers.

City Parks & Greenery Department Offers Free Public Prescott Park Garden Tours on Fridays

Energy Advisory & Sustainability Committees Host Community Conversation on Renewables on Wednesday, July 10, 2024
June 28, 2024Formed in 2022, the City of Portsmouth’s Energy Advisory Committee (PEAC) helps to assess renewable energy options for residents and businesses. PEAC successfully guided the City into an agreement with the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) and facilitated the transition from Eversource as the default electricity supplier to Portsmouth Community Power (PCP). Portsmouth customers using PCP now have four electricity options with increasing proportions of renewable energy, from 24.3% to 100%.
Train Derailment, Crews on Site, No Threat to the Public, No Injuries Reported
June 25, 2024Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The City of Portsmouth has issued a traffic advisory for several downtown streets due to a train derailment. Shortly before noon today, a 47-car train operated by CSX and carrying track rail, derailed at the low speed Maplewood Avenue crossing. Police, Fire, and Public Works crews are on site, and the situation is under control. There is no threat to the public, no injuries have been reported, and the train remained upright.

City Receives CDFA Community Center Investment Program Resources to Support Community Campus Improvements
June 12, 2024The New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) announced the award of $8.5 million in Community Center Investment Program resources to New Hampshire nonprofits and municipalities across the state to advance community-based projects, including $1 million to the City of Portsmouth to support improvements at the Community Campus.
