On Friday, August 25^th the Portsmouth Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Lafayette Road. The checkpoint, which was authorized by the Rockingham County Superior Court, screened drivers heading southbound on Lafayette Road between 10:00 PM and 3:00AM. One hundred ninety (190) drivers were screened five were charged. Assisting in the operation were members of the Portsmouth Police Explorer Post. Those charged are as follows, no booking photos available at this time.
