Gateway Mixed Use Zoning Amendments
September 15, 2017The Planning Board is currently considering zoning amendments to allow for a mix of residential and nonresidential development in some of the City’s primary corridor areas and to increase the diversity of housing types.
The proposed Gateway Mixed Use District amendments include two new zoning districts: Gateway Corridor Mixed Use (G1) and Gateway Corridor Mixed Use Center (G2) in four primary areas:
Portsmouth Water Division Releases September 2017 Water Supply Status Report
September 14, 2017Every month, the Portsmouth Water Division issues a Water Supply Status Report to customers that provides a detailed assessment of the current water supply conditions. The September report details that while precipitation is still slightly low based on seasonal averages, the groundwater levels, reservoir levels and river flow rates are within typical ranges for this time of year. Therefore, no water use restrictions are being enforced at this time.
Work to start on Walker Bungalow Road and Sudbury Street on Monday, September 18th
September 14, 2017On Monday, September 18th, work will begin on both Walker Bungalow Road and Sudbury Street.
On Walker Bungalow Road, the City’s contractor, John H. Lyman and Sons, will be constructing a water main replacement in the area just north of Shaw Road where utility crews stopped work last fall. The project proposes to install about 280’ of new water pipe in the area – spanning from 137 to 189 Walker Bungalow – in order to eliminate this final section of old water main.

Portsmouth LED Street Light Project 95 Percent Complete
September 8, 2017Since April, the Department of Public Works has been working with Eversource and Affinity LED Lighting to assist in converting all of its high pressure sodium (HPS) street lights to Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights. With this citywide implementation, the City will experience further reductions in energy consumption, costs and light pollution, along with improved visibility and safety on the roads.

Police Instagram
September 7, 2017PORTSMOUTH – The Portsmouth Police Department has made another step to keep itself connected to its community through technology by now having a presence on Instagram.
The police department currently has a very strong presence on Facebook, which they joined in 2009, and also has a presence on Twitter, which they joined in 2015. Joining Instagram will give the department more exposure to the millennials of their community as research has shown that Instagram is one of several growing social media platform choices amongst this genre.
Groundbreaking Ceremony for Foundry Place Garage to be held Wednesday, September 6th

East Coast Greenway River Relay Arriving in Portsmouth Friday, September 1st
September 1, 2017PORTSMOUTH, NH – This year the East Coast Greenway (ECG) Alliance, the country’s longest biking and walking route, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Portsmouth will be welcoming an East Coast River Relay team on Friday morning in Prescott Park to help commemorate this occasion and the Greenway’s efforts in connecting 15 states, 450 cities and towns, and 3,000 miles of people-powered trails from Maine to Florida.
