Water Division Asks Customers to Limit Water Use
August 28, 2018While significant rainfall at the end of July into August was beneficial at the time for Portsmouth's water supply, the extreme heat conditions continue to place strain on the City's water system. The ongoing heat increases water supply demands and places further stress to treat quality issues due to added organics within the water. Additionally, the annual precipitation average remains below normal due to the dry spring and the City continues to operate without the support of the Haven Well.
Peirce Island Outdoor Pool Closed for 2018 Season

Drivers Urged to Use Caution at School Crossings
August 27, 2018City Officials want to remind motorists to be aware that crossing guards will be stationed at positions throughout the City in conjunction with the start of the new school season Monday, August 27, 2018. Crossing guards assist students and parents walking and biking to school. Drivers are urged to use an abundance of caution near school neighborhoods, plan travel routes away from heavy school traffic, and obey posted school speed limits, and crossing guard signals.

Portsmouth Public Works’ Intern Program Continues to Improve Data Planning
August 20, 2018The City of Portsmouth’s Department of Public Works have again employed the services of two University of New Hampshire graduates who interned in their Geographic Information System (GIS) department this year. Working under the guidance of the City’s GIS Coordinator, Jamie McCarty, Evan Silva and Thomas Nethercott used global positioning equipment, cameras and own observations to inspect the City’s water infrastructure and compile data for other City initiatives.
Portion of Lafayette Road closed on Monday, August 13
August 13, 2018As part of the City’s Lafayette Road and Andrew Jarvis Drive intersection improvement project, extensive utility work resulting in traffic delays will occur Thursday, August 9th through Monday, August 13th; this will include a complete road closure of Lafayette Road, between Greenleaf Avenue and the Route 1 bypass, on Monday, August 13th from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

August 7, 2018Portsmouth neighborhoods will take to the streets to celebrate National Night Out Against Crime (NNO) on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Portsmouth’s neighborhood-based NNO celebration aim to strengthen and connect our community and foster partnerships between Portsmouth residents and members of the Police Department. Sponsored by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and the Portsmouth Police Department, NNO is an evening outdoors filled with social activities and block parties.

August 2018 Water Supply Status Report
August 2, 2018Precipitation events during the last couple weeks of July considerably reduced water demands. As the accompanying information shows, this rainfall also resulted in slightly higher than normal stream flows, reservoir levels and recharge to our water supplies.
