Portsmouth Seeking Public Input on Capital Improvement Plan FY2021-2026

The Portsmouth Planning Department and Planning Board are welcoming public input on the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for Fiscal Year 2021 to 2026 (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2026). Residents are asked to submit projects for consideration in the next CIP by October 15th. The CIP sets forth a 6-year schedule and financing strategy to accomplish necessary public improvements and meet infrastructure needs.

Public Meeting: Sep 4 Sagamore Ave Sewer Extension Project

The Department of Public Works with the engineering design firm Wright-Pierce is hosting a public meeting at the Department of Public Works, 680 Peverly Hill Road, on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 6 p.m. to discuss the preliminary design of the Sagamore Ave Sewer Extension Project.

FREE PRESCOTT PARK GARDEN TOURS ON FRIDAYS IN AUGUST

The garden tours are offered at 11 am and 2 pm on August 16 and 23. The one-hour tour starts at the Liberty Pole on Marcy Street and then explores the extensive garden beds of the South Lawn and the formal garden planted around the anchor at the end of Prescott Park closest to the river.

WELFARE DEPARTMENT BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE!

Since 2006, the Welfare Department has been conducting a back to school drive to assure that every child in the City of Portsmouth has the tools they need to begin a successful school year. The first day of school is just a few short weeks away. We are always in need of sturdy backpacks for older kids. Currently, we are low on markers, pencil sharpeners, and dividers for three ring binders. Thank you for your generosity.

US Route 1 Corridor Improvements - Informational Meeting

On Thursday, July 25th, at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers, NH Department of Transportation hosted an informational meeting to discuss roadway improvements along U.S. Route 1, from Constitution Avenue to Wilson Road, and Ocean Road to White Cedar Boulevard.

City Announces Installation of Flexible Bollards for Middle Street Bike Lanes

City DPW crews will be installing bollards for the Middle Street bike lanes the week of July 1. The bollards are a critical safety feature of the bike lane design, as they serve to keep vehicles out of the bike lanes and to provide protection to bicyclists. In response to concerns expressed regarding the previous bollards, only about half the number of bollards will be installed this year, and will only be placed in critical locations where it is necessary to ensure safety of bicyclists and to guide traffic around parked vehicles.

City Offices closed in observance of Independence Day

July 4th - July 5th

In observance of Independence Day, Portsmouth City Hall, the Library, Department of Public Works, Senior Activity Center and Connie Bean Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4th.  The Library will close early, at 5 p.m., on July 3rd.  On Friday, July 5th, City Hall will remain closed.
