Portsmouth Water Division Requests Voluntary Water Restrictions
August 24, 2020The Drought Monitor issued on August 18, 2020 elevated New Hampshire’s drought conditions in the Seacoast area to Severe Drought (D2), up from Moderate Drought conditions set on June 23, 2020. The New Hampshire Seacoast has received only 8 inches of precipitation since the beginning of May compared to the 14 inch average. The State has activated the Drought Management Task Force and has advised public water systems including Portsmouth’s to implement outdoor water use restrictions where needed.

New Fiscal Year Brings Parking Changes July 1
June 30, 2020The new fiscal year for the City budget brings some changes to fees charged to residents. There are also some adjustments in parking to announce. First, the following changes in fees were adopted by the City Council:

Outdoor Pool Now Allowing 100 Person Occupancy
June 29, 2020The Outdoor Pool is now accepting reservations for up to 100 people per hour. Reservations are still required and pool access is limited to Portsmouth residents (photo ID required).

City of Portsmouth Moves Forward with Cautious Reopening
June 23, 2020The Governor intends that most of New Hampshire will “open” by July 1st, having released retail stores, restaurants and recreational venues from his “Stay At Home” orders on June 15. The combination of three months of lost revenue, hesitant customers and the new State guidelines on occupancy, sanitizing and employee protections mean that most businesses in Portsmouth are reopening as reimagined establishments.
City Announces Summer 2020 Recreation Facilities Rules
May 8, 2020Following the recommendation of the City Recreation Director Rus Wilson, City Manager Karen Conard announces the following rules, tentatively effective at the end of the Governor’s Stay At Home 2.0 order, May 18, 2020, for the operation of the City’s outdoor recreation and park venues:
