Eversource Project Affects Market, High and Ladd Streets
May 24, 2022Eversource has informed the City of a construction project that will impact High, Ladd and Market Streets. The affected areas and work phasing are shown in the image below. Although this is not a City project, City staff is involved to facilitate communications with all affected residents and businesses.
The project involves installing subsurface conduit to connect to transformers that are housed in the Hanover Street Garage to provide enhanced electrical power to that area of downtown.
DPW Hosts Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on May 21
May 21, 2022The Portsmouth Department of Public Works will hold its biannual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Public Works facility at 680 Peverly Hill Road. Residents of Portsmouth, Greenland and Newington are encouraged to bring household chemicals for safe disposal between 8 am and 12 noon. Proof of residency is required.

City of Portsmouth to Start Bridge Street Parking Lot Upgrade on April 11, 2022
March 31, 2022The City will start work on upgrades to the Bridge Street parking lot on April 11, with an estimated completion date in mid-May. The lot will be fenced off and closed during construction. The Bridge Street Lot work includes reconstruction of the paved area, handicapped accessibility upgrades, subsurface preparations that would allow for EV charging stations and landscaping.
City of Portsmouth to Conduct Routine Hydrant Flushing Starting April 11, 2022
March 28, 2022The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division begins its annual routine flushing of fire hydrants and water mains on Monday, April 11, 2022. The flushing will take place at various locations, Monday through Thursday, between 7 am and 11 pm, for the next six weeks.
