City of Portsmouth, NH DPW Hosts Mechanic Street Pump Station Public Information Meeting on September 21, 2026
September 16, 2026
Portsmouth, New Hampshire – The City of Portsmouth Department of Public Works is
hosting a Public Information Meeting to discuss the Mechanic Street Pump Station
Project on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 6:30 pm in Conference Room A of City Hall,
located at 1 Junkins Avenue. The meeting will give residents an opportunity to see the
latest plans and ask questions of City staff and project consultants.
The Mechanic Street Pump Station is the City’s largest wastewater pump station and is
operating beyond its useful life. Recent pump failures have shown the need to replace
the pump station to improve reliability and meet current industry design and operation
standards. The City plans to design the new pump station to fit into the surrounding
neighborhood and protect against flooding and sea level rise.
This hybrid meeting will be held in person and via Zoom. To participate by Zoom,
register in advance. A confirmation email with joining instructions will be sent after
registration.
