Heat Advisory August 6 & 7, 2026

There is a Heat Advisory in place Thursday, August 6 and into Friday, August 7. Potential heat index values in the mid to high 90s.

Practice heat safety. Keep yourself cool and safe by staying hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and limit your strenuous outdoor activities. Check up on neighbors, the sick or elderly, and those you know who may not have AC.

The City of Portsmouth has the following facilities open.

All have air conditioning (or are the pool).

Peirce Island Outdoor Pool Open Swim:

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, 1-5:15 pm

Tuesday and Thursday, 1-6:15 pm

Saturday and Sunday, 11 am-5:15 pm

Portsmouth Public Library:

Monday – Thursday: 10 am-8 pm

Friday – Saturday: 10 am-5 pm

Sunday (June - August): CLOSED

Portsmouth Senior Activity Center:

Monday - Friday 9 am-5 pm

Saturday 9 am-12 pm

Community Campus:

Monday - Friday 8:30 am-8 pm

Saturday 8:30 am-4 pm
