Red Ribbon Week is a week designated to acknowledge, educate and support individuals and families impacted by substance misuse and/or abuse. The observance of Red Ribbon Week began in 1985 after DEA Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena was kidnapped, and murdered by drug traffickers in Mexico.

Drivers Urged to Use Caution at School Crossings
August 27, 2018City Officials want to remind motorists to be aware that crossing guards will be stationed at positions throughout the City in conjunction with the start of the new school season Monday, August 27, 2018. Crossing guards assist students and parents walking and biking to school. Drivers are urged to use an abundance of caution near school neighborhoods, plan travel routes away from heavy school traffic, and obey posted school speed limits, and crossing guard signals.

Clipper Foundation Awards $30,000 to Portsmouth and SAU#52 Educators

Stark Street Bridge Closed Starting Monday, January 29th
January 29, 2018The Stark Street Bridge will be closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic beginning on Monday, January 29th. The bridge will be completely replaced and will not be reopen until Columbus Day. Temporary lane closures on the Route 1 Bypass will be permitted during working operations. Additionally, brief complete traffic shut downs will be allowed on the Bypass between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
