Tree Grant Program

Langdon Park trees

The Tree Grant Program is designed to help the City preserve its “Tree City” canopy in a creative way. Often, city trees must be removed when they are damaged or risk entanglement in power lines or are encroaching on the right of way.

Sometimes those trees could be replaced if they were moved a few feet from their original locations, except for the fact that the better place is not on city property.

In these cases, if the private property owner agrees to have a new tree placed on the streetside front of their property where it offers public benefit, the City will do the planting and take care of the tree for two years until it is established. After that, the property owner gains the landscape advantage of a new tree while sharing the public benefit of shade and a green canopy.
