Snapology: STEM Survivor - Grades K-5
Take on engineering and design challenges, work with a team to complete timed tasks, and use partnerships to brainstorm and solve unique problems. Although the tasks will be challenging, they will be structured and guided by a trained Snapologist!

Kids Test Kitchen - Grades K-5
Where the kitchen becomes a classroom! Students will work together to create a delicious dish, learn about healthy eating, and leave with a recipe to try at home.

The Players Ring Drama Club - Grades K-5
An introductory theater workshop that focuses on storytelling, character development, and teamwork. The group will plan and produce a show for family and friends to enjoy on the last class.

Chess Kidz After School Program - Grades K-5
From beginners to chess wizards, kids learn this classic game with hands-on instruction from a chess expert in a fun, competitive environment.

Portsmouth Recreation Piscataqua Pre-Team
Perfect for young swimmers looking to bridge the gap between swim lessons and competitive swim team participation! This is not a learn-to-swim class—participants must be able to swim one length of the pool independently. Ideal for swimmers who are considering joining a local swim team or want to improve their skills in a supportive and energetic environment. Prerequisite: Swimmers must be comfortable in deep water and able to complete at least 25 meters unassisted without stopping.
The New Swim Team Skills Program focus:
- Stroke technique & endurance

- Swim team readiness
Pre-Team Program focus:
- Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly refinement
- Flip turns and racing starts

Portsmouth Recreation Kids Yoga
Yoga for children to learn poses, breathing and how to calm yourself when the world feels too big. Instructor provides guided instruction to help children learn the art of yoga. Bring your own mat or borrow one of ours. Bring a water bottle.

USTA Tennis in the Parks - Learn & Play
Led by a USTA coaches, participants will have fun and get great exercise while developing the skills to serve, rally, and play tennis. The program is perfect for first-time and beginner players, as well as returning novice players.

American Red Cross Swim Lessons
Portsmouth Indoor Pool is proud to be a Gold Level Learn-to-Swim Provider with the American Red Cross. The pool offers lessons for infants through teens. The session schedule is available online the week before resident registration begins. Lesson registration starts at 9:00am on the days listed below.

NEW! Aqua Buddies - Ages 18m to 4y
Make a splash with an in-water toddler play group! Meet other families, socialize, and play in the pool. Adults are required to be in the water with their little one. Pre-registration required.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING - American Red Cross (Ages 15+)
Blended Learning Lifeguard Training: Aged 15+

Course length: 19 hours, 30 minutes in-person and 7 hours 30 minutes online. Total - 27 hours
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
$350 residents | $400 nonresidents. Includes lifeguard manual, resuscitation mask & certification fees.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 15 years;
- Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:
- Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface and then swim 150 years using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed)
- Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
- Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.
- Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed)
- Submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
- Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps
To successfully complete the Lifeguarding Blended Learning course, the participant must:
- Attend the entire course and participate in all class sessions.
- Actively participate in all course activities, including assuming various roles during scenarios.
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills.
- Pass the final skills scenarios.
- Complete all eLearning content, including the eLearning written exam (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers ;and First Aid).
- Successfully pass final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent.
Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

USTA Tennis in the Parks - YOUTH Learn & Play
Led by a USTA-approved coach, the program will focus on developing the skills to serve, rally and play - so it’s perfect for beginners and first-time players. We focus on FUN and learning the basics. This program uses modified tennis balls, age-appropriate rackets and the latest engaging activities that help players successfully learn and play the game quicker. Maximum 14 players per age group. All players, in their first session, receive and keep a new age-appropriate racquet and ball.

Ages 6-13
EFA is dedicated to promoting the sport of fencing at both the recreational and competitive levels. Instructors will guide students through the basics of footwork, bladework and bouting tactics. Fencing builds balance, focus, coordination, and fitness. Students will improve speed and reaction time. Newbies & beginners are strongly encouraged to join a class.
