Summer 2026 is a long summer. Portsmouth Rec has added an extra “bonus” week of camp activities to keep the summer fun going! Individual daily fieldtrips. 8:00am-5:00pm. **While Tuesday - Friday trips are full at this point, the Rec highly recommends you join the wait list. We often get cancellations and pull from the wait list to backfill spots.

Movie Magic Week: Put on your filmmaker's cap and get ready to celebrate the world of movies! Campers will work in teams to produce their very own stop-motion movies featuring all their favorite minifigures! We will also learn some STEAM fundamentals throughout the week using themes and characters from popular movies. Ages 6-12

• Monday - Friday, August 17 - 21. 9:00am - 4:30pm

Offering students a fun, structured introduction to the world’s greatest game, Chess! Whether a child is brand new to chess or already playing tournaments, our camps offer a unique blend of instruction, gameplay, puzzles, and outdoor activities. Led by Coach Jake and the ChessKidz team, each day is full of critical thinking, creative challenges, and good old-fashioned fun. Groups are split by skill level to ensure every child is challenged and engaged. Grades 1 - 8.

• Session 2: Monday - Friday, August 17 - 21. 9:00am - 12:00pm (different dates than listed in the brochure, sorry)

Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability? Experience Music Together pf Portsmouth and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be! Music Together classes are based on the recognition that all children are musical. Music Together of Portsmouth helps children learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Our Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement! Music and Movement for Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers and the Grown-ups who love them!

Campers will participate in lots of outdoor games & fun activities, as well as take field trips to local parks, beaches, hikes, and attractions. Monday-Thursday. No camp on Fridays. Six individual weeks of fun! Field trips Monday-Wednesday and in-town adventures on Thursday.

Portsmouth Recreation Camp FunStuff: Grades 1-5 Exciting experiences and adventures await at Camp Funstuff. Eight individual weeks of games, sports, arts & crafts, special presenters, swimming at the outdoor pool, and field trips. 

Grades: Rising Grade 1 - Grade 5 (Check out our new Camp Funstuff Junior for kids rising to Grade K)

Is your young camper ready to try Camp FunStuff? We are excited to announce a new group within our classic camp FunStuff. Campers will have similar experiences as the older campers, but with slightly different activities, field trips, and staff to acclimate them to the summer camp world in an age-appropriate environment. For rising kindergarteners only; must be age 5 by the first day of camp. 

• Grade K: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Ages 6-14

During camp, skaters will learn basic skateboard terminology, safety, and beginner to more advanced tricks, dependent upon skill level. Students will work on riding, turning, stopping, dropping in, and learn the science and process behind ollies, kickflips, and other tricks. Park etiquette will also be covered. Students will paint a skateboard deck that they can take with them at the end of camp.

• Equipment is not provided. Participants will need a skateboard, helmet, and pads.

Please bring a snack and water. Wear sunscreen when appropriate. Chris Rice Scholarship available for fees and equipment. 

• Session 3: Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 12:00pm

Portsmouth-Oyster River High School Varsity Cheerleading coaches and athletes are bringing you CHEER CAMP! All experience levels welcome, including those interested in trying cheerleading for the first time. Cheer day will include a dynamic warm up and stretching routine, cheer motions, game cheers and jumps. There will also be the opportunity to learn how to stunt and tumble, with a focus on safety. Fee includes a t-shirt. Scholarships available if needed.

• Grades K-8: Thursday & Friday. 8:00am - 12:00pm

Location: Community Campus Gymnasium.

Coaches from Portsmouth High & Middle School bring you all things Field Hockey! Perfect summer camp for those who are familiar with the sport of field hockey and those who are picking up a stick for the first time. Open to all who have a passion for learning the game of field hockey. 

• Grades 4-8: Monday - Thursday, 8:30am - 12:00pm. (Rain Date Friday)
