Environmental Planner/Sustainability Coordinator

Kate is the Environmental Planner and Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Portsmouth. Kate received a B.A. for Environmental Studies and Urban Studies from Hobart & William Smith Colleges and an M.S. in Geography and Environmental Sciences from Villanova University. Her research background is in environmental science, Geographic Information Systems, stormwater modeling, and urban planning. 

 

Kate grew up in Portsmouth and was a fellow in the Planning Department through the University of New Hampshire Sustainability Institute in 2018. In that role, Kate performed research and surveying of the South End in Portsmouth to map out groundwater flooding impacts on local infrastructure. In her current role, Kate manages the City of Portsmouth's Conservation Commission and Sustainability Committee, she also implements the City's environmental regulations, Climate Action Plan, Open Space Plan, Coastal Resiliency Initiative and works with local residents to address environmental issues along with stormwater and groundwater issues on their property.
