About Safe Routes to School

About

Safe Routes to School is a local, state and national partnership that aims to advance safe walking and bicycling to and from schools, and in daily life. The purpose of this program is to improve the health and well-being of America's children, and to foster the creation of livable, sustainable communities.

The City of Portsmouth’s Safe Routes to School Program supports children and families in walking and biking to school, and aims to improve traffic safety for children who walk and bike. Through this program, we are working to make our streets safer for children and families.
