Portsmouth DPW Water Division Imposes Watering Restrictions
September 10, 2020Due to ongoing drought conditions, the Portsmouth Department of Public Works Water Division is activating a water-use restrictions schedule. Effective immediately, the Water Division is asking customers to water lawns and gardens only between midnight and 10 am on odd-numbered days. There should be no outdoor watering on even-numbered days.
Portsmouth Water Division Requests Voluntary Water Restrictions
August 24, 2020The Drought Monitor issued on August 18, 2020 elevated New Hampshire’s drought conditions in the Seacoast area to Severe Drought (D2), up from Moderate Drought conditions set on June 23, 2020. The New Hampshire Seacoast has received only 8 inches of precipitation since the beginning of May compared to the 14 inch average. The State has activated the Drought Management Task Force and has advised public water systems including Portsmouth’s to implement outdoor water use restrictions where needed.

Portsmouth Water Division Releases Annual Drinking Water Quality Reports
May 22, 2020Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires community water systems to deliver a Consumer Confidence Report – also known as an Annual Drinking Water Quality Report – to their customers. These reports, which are mailed out to water customers by July 1st, provide information about their drinking water quality from the previous year of sampling including a summary of detected contaminants, compliance, and educational information.

June 3, 2019Despite the cool and wet weather pattern we have been experiencing in Southern New Hampshire, this area continues to have below normal precipitation. Precipitation since December 2018 is only 65% of normal. However, the cooler weather has resulted in lower than normal irrigation and water demands in our system.
Public tour of the Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility on Thursday, June 13th
May 28, 2019Guided public tours of the Peirce Island Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) construction site will be conducted on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. City staff, along with others involved in the construction of the Peirce Island WWTF upgrade project, will be guiding interested parties through the construction site to provide an opportunity to observe the status of the ongoing construction.
