Personnel & Training (P&T) oversees the recruitment and hiring of new Police Officers, Public Safety Dispatchers and civilian staff. All newly hired Police Officers undergo an intensive 3-week in-house training program before attending the New Hampshire Police Academy.
P&T also manages the planning, coordination, and delivery of ongoing in-service training for our officers. As a longstanding training hub for the Seacoast region, the Portsmouth Police Department proudly partners with a variety of external organizations to offer high-quality instruction to certified officers from other departments as well.
