Four Tree Island is a public park accessed from Peirse Island. It is part of Prescott Park and accessed via a causeway from Peirce Island. Four Tree Island is a public facility open for all to enjoy.
FACILITIES
- Open dawn to dusk
- Small Pavilions: Picnic tables under small pavilions with a grill circle the island for small and medium sized groups to use without reservation
- Large Pavilion: Available by reservation (See reservation information below)
- The island is carry-in, carry-out
- Restroom facilities open daily starting in late April to October 31st (weather permitting)
- Parking is free and at the head of the causeway
- The island is accessed via a gravel causeway apx 100 yards long
- During the summer season, City staff may be found at the Boat Launch. Seasonal portopotty available at boat launch
Combine your visit to Four Tree with the amenities of Peirce Island. Visitors are welcome to explore Peirce Island; walking trails, off leash dog area, seasonal outdoor pool, playground, sand volleyball courts, Spiraling Serenity art installation, boat launch, shady areas for picnics and setting up chairs to watch the river.

RESERVATIONS
- The large pavilion is available for reservation. It is 25' x 25’ with three picnic tables and three grills. Power is in the leg of the pavilion, if needed.
- Reservations are through the City of Portsmouth Recreation Department by calling 603-427-1547 or visiting the registration/reservation portal. Everyone must make an account to make the reservation.
- Please note, when making a reservation, you are reserving the use of the large pavilion and grills. The rest of the island and small picnic areas remain open to the public.
There is no reservation fee, however, the City does encourage donations to the Park (for more information on donations, click here).

RESTRICTIONS
- No vehicles allowed on the island
- No alcohol allowed on the island (or any City parks)
- No disturbing the wildlife or picking the plants/flowers
- Not to be used for commercial purposes unless special permission is granted
- No staking of tents (or other items) into the ground
COMMERCIAL/FOR-PROFIT USE
Special Note: Four Tree Island and the pavilion are not meant for commercial/for-profit use, with the following exceptions:
- With express permission from the City Council.
- Pursuant to the determination by the Recreation Department that the area in which the commercial activity would take place has been previously approved for such use, for which an established fee has been determined for such use and for which liability insurance in an amount and type approved by the Legal Department is provided.
- No equipment shall be attached to City property or placed so as to obstruct any public use.

GEESE
- Due to an increase in Canada geese populations in recent years, there is persistent evidence of geese on the island. Please keep that in mind if you are making a reservation.
