Portsmouth residents can drop off compostable food waste at the Recycling Center during regular operating hours. This service is proudly maintained by Mr. Fox Composting, a local composting partner.
📢 Note: We are currently out of free backyard compost bins. We'll notify the community if more become available.
✅ What You Can Compost
Please remove stickers from produce and staples from tea bags.
- Fruit & vegetable scraps (including meat scraps)
- Eggshells
- Coffee grounds & filters
- Paper napkins, paper towels, paper plates
- Tea bags (no staples)
- Muffin wrappers (wax paper)
- Flowers & floral trimmings
- Wooden corks
- Corn-based compostable cups and utensils
- Paper and compostable bags

- Tuesday: 7:45 AM – 3:15 PM
- Wednesday: 7:45 AM – 3:15 PM
- Thursday: 7:45 AM – 3:15 PM
