Great Decisions Foreign Policy Discussion Group 2022

Great Decisions Foreign 9-Week Course with Rocketship

ONLINE Great Decisions
Foreign Policy Discussion Course

9 Week Course | Wednesdays February 9 – April 6
Register for one time: 10:00 - 11:15 AM or 7 – 8:15 PM

This group is free and open to all. Registration is required.

What is our country’s role in the world? How does our foreign policy impact climate change, space exploration, and industrial policy? How are the political and social trends in our nation reflected around the globe? For the seventh year in a row, the library offers a unique opportunity to consider and discuss a number of foreign policy topics.

Great Decisions is back by popular demand! We’ll have two independent groups, both of which will convene online using Zoom: you can choose from a 10 – 11:15 AM session or a 7 – 8:15 PM session, on nine consecutive Wednesdays from February 9 – April 6.

This FREE nine-week “Great Decisions” course, created by the Foreign Policy Association to educate the public about current events, will include the following topics for 2022:

  • Changing Demographics
  • Outer Space
  • Climate Change
  • Russia
  • Myanmar and ASEAN
  • The Quad Alliance
  • Industrial Policy
  • Drug Policy in Latin America
  • Biden’s Agenda

Each week, participants will begin by gathering in the main Zoom room to hear opening remarks by that week’s volunteer facilitator. Then attendees will be given a link to watch a 25-30 minute documentary produced by the Foreign Policy Association on that week’s issue. Following the film, the group will reconvene briefly in the main room before going into Zoom breakout rooms for small group discussion. Then, the entire group will come together to wrap up.

The library has purchased 80 copies of the Great Decisions Briefing Book, 2022 edition. Registrants will be notified as soon as the briefing books are available, and they will be given to the first 80 people to visit the library and pick one up at the Reference Desk. No exceptions or reservations will be made. You may also choose to purchase a Briefing Book for $35 online at greatdecisions.org.

Additional resources from the library.
