Issues & Opportunities Survey (Polis)
We’re eager to hear your opinions and big ideas on issues and opportunities Portsmouth is facing today and into the future. We want to hear your thoughts on housing, development, transportation and the economy as well as climate resilience, sustainability and the recreational, natural, cultural and civic anchors that shape local quality of life. Your responses to this survey will help define the focus and key issues for the master planning process.
How It Works
- Read and vote on existing statements. For each statement, click Agree, Disagree, or Pass. You might decide to pass, for example, because a statement is vague or confusing, or it does not apply to you. You do not need to respond to every statement, but responding to as few as ten statements meaningfully contributes to the data. You can also come back at another time to answer more questions.
- Add your own statement! Click in the field below the conversation ("share perspective"), type your statement, and click Submit. A good statement is a concise, stand-alone idea that raises a new perspective. Only statements relevant to the topics covered by the Master Plan will be considered for inclusion in the survey. Statements that are derogatory or attack individuals or groups will not be added.
Results
At any time, you can view the results and full list of submitted statements.
When viewing results, you will notice that people who vote similarly are grouped. Click a group to see which viewpoints they share. You've probably seen 'recommended products' on Amazon, or 'recommended movies' on Netflix. Each of those services uses statistics to group the user with people who buy and watch similar things, then show them things that those people bought or watched.
When a user votes on statements, they are grouped with people who voted like they did! You can see those groups below. Each is made up of people who have similar opinions. There are fascinating insights to discover in each conversation. Go ahead - click a group to see what brought them together and what makes them unique!
Please note that statements are displayed semi-randomly, and many of the statements you'll see have been submitted by fellow respondents. Inclusion of a statement does not imply endorsement or agreement. This survey is anonymous.
