NATIONAL NIGHT OUT AUGUST 3, 2021

Portsmouth neighborhoods take to the parks and streets to celebrate National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 (rain date, August 10), from 5 to 8 pm. Founded in 1984, the nationwide National Night Out Against Crime celebrations on the same night nationwide are designed to strengthen and connect the community while fostering partnerships between residents and members of Police Departments.

In Portsmouth, the 38th Annual National Night Out is supported by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and the City’s Police, Fire and Department of Public Works.

National Night Out this year gives families in 17 neighborhoods an evening full of block-party-style fun. The Police, Fire and Public Works departments bring fire trucks, police vehicles and highway equipment to each location, for kids to ‘touch a truck’ and meet McGruff the crime-fighting dog. The events are free and open to the public.

The following Portsmouth neighborhoods are participating in this year’s event, from 5 to 8 pm. The City equipment visits will happen on a rolling schedule throughout the evening.
