The City of Portsmouth is proud to participate in the upcoming Americans For the Arts (AFTA) Arts and Economic Prosperity 6 Impact Study.

Join a Zoom Training session on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 9 am to learn about difference in how the survey is being conducted this year and how your organization will benefit. To attend the AFTA AEP6 Survey Virtual Training, please use this Zoom registration link. The session is free and open to anyone in your organization you designated to learn more about the survey and the process.

The purpose of the study is to document the economic impact of the nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Greater Portsmouth, including Rye and Kittery. Portsmouth has conducted this vital survey since 2000. Especially now, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to document the significant boost the arts provide to our economy. The AEP6 study will provide essential data your organization will be able to use for fundraising, grant writing and marketing efforts.

This initiative is managed by a subcommittee of the City of Portsmouth Committee on Arts and Nonprofits. For more about Americans for the Arts and the AEP6 study, please see the information below. If you have any questions about the study or the Zoom meeting, please contact Lauren Rosen at lrosen2015@gmail.com, Project Manager, AEP6 Impact Study.

About Americans for the Arts and the AEP6 Impact Study

Americans for the Arts is a national organization whose mission is to build recognition for the extraordinary and dynamic value of the arts not only as a means of community engagement - but also as a tool to enhance our economic sustainability.

AEP6 data collection will be completed throughout the calendar year 2022, and results will be released in June 2023. Participating organizations will be asked to conduct audience intercept surveys. Patrons are selected randomly and asked to complete a short survey while attending an event. The respondents will be asked to provide information such as travel expenditures incurred visiting the venue, and data on related activities such as meals, shopping, transportation, parking, and lodging.
